In 2010, our Board of Directors voted to make World Vision the national philanthropy of Sigma Phi Lambda. We are excited to partner with such an amazing organization in order to extend the impact that Phi Lamb has on the world. The board chose World Vision because they are involved in so many different types of ministry in the U.S. and in nearly 100 countries around the world, and we wanted each chapter to be able to get involved in a way that best fit with the heart of their members.
What is World Vision?
World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. Motivated by faith in Jesus Christ, World Vision serves alongside the poor and oppressed as a demonstration of God’s unconditional love for all people. They do this by demonstrating God’s unconditional love for all people through our service to the poor — which includes providing for daily needs, working to build peace and promote justice, and partnering with churches and individuals to encourage spiritual transformation.

Our chapter sponsors a child through World Vision. Her name is Jhinny, and she lives in Bolivia! We have loved sending her pictures and raising money for her community. She loves to write to us and send us her drawings! We are very blessed to have Jhinny!
Events from the Past:
Our most recent event was held on October 24, 2018. At our Trivia Night, we invited Phi Lamb sisters and special guests to the night staking the odds and testing their trivia knowledge with us. Our emcee, Blair Schaefer (former MSU Women’s Basketball star), hosted the game.

On March 23, 2018, we hosted a baked potato bar at the Wesley Foundation. There, we enjoyed some good food with some great sisters and new friends!
Waffles for World Vision
We held our first ever Waffle Night on November 8th, 2016! All of our friends came out for music, coffee, and delicious waffles!
Cruizin’ for World Vision
On April 23, 2016, the weather was perfect for local Mississippians to bring out their cars to West Point, MS for our car show! There, we and our guests had picnics, played games, and raised money for a wonderful cause.
